this is my 3rd tester in 5 years and this one did not work either, Hanna were extremely rude and basically said I was too stupid to use it. Reefsupplies.ca are still great though not their fault Hanna Canada has 0 customer service skills. The Hanna checkers work amazingly well, just not the salinity tester. Google reviews for it.

However, we did see the full email exchange between you and Hanna, and no one from their team was rude to you. They were simply explaining that digital salinity testers use electrical conductivity to measure salinity, which will not give the same readings as a hydrometer or refractometer, since those rely on different measurement methods (specific gravity vs. conductivity-based salinity). The values can differ slightly, which is completely normal and expected.

That said, your response to them was extremely inappropriate and unacceptable. Using racist or abusive language, including telling someone to “go f*** yourself, you French piece of s***”, is never justified under any circumstance. This type of language is offensive, discriminatory, and goes far beyond expressing frustration.

We always encourage respectful communication, even when you disagree makes every interaction better for everyone involved.

Easy to calibrate and use!

Hanna Marine Salinity Tester

Has greatly improved my QT procedure. Now, after I drip acclimate from the QT tank, I can ensure that the water parameters (salinity and temp in this case) are actually matching in the bucket. Makes sure the acclimation period has actually achieved what it is expected to, instead of guessing. Same with mixing salt. Pour in salt, let it mix, wait 20 minutes and test!

Catastrophic product...inacurate compare to two or three other salanity checker...as neptune, milwaukkee and on and on Offset by 2 ppt.... Ot seems that hanna is using another calibration solution...... If you calibrate it with neptune solution...it will resd as neptune is.... If you calibrate it with accurasea it will read as othernthat have been calibrated with it... But when calibrated with hanna liquids...... Ot will then be offset...... Hanna keep saying that their products is THE one that must be followed.... Your choice to decide..... @ Hugo we appreciate your review, we helped you last month and determined the unit was defective and also agreed to send you a new one once we got the bad one back. Im not sure why you would rather review a defective unit rather than getting it replaced under warranty. Your choice to decide I guess
