Reef Supplies Client Spotlight: Moe from Ottawa

My 60-gallon reef tank is six years old. I have six fish: Mango and Kiwi the clownfish, Mr. Magoo the Midas blenny, Alfred the cardinalfish, Brandy the sharknose goby, and Sapphire the reef bully damsel. I also have Strawberry the blood shrimp, Pumpkin the skunk shrimp, Blueberry the Maxima clam, and a hardworking team of snails.

One interesting aspect of my reef is that all the rockwork is artificial, made from resin molds resembling live rock. My lighting setup consists of ATI 6x 36-inch T5 lamps, and my filtration is handled by a Fluval 306 canister filter, with each of the three trays holding 2.2 lbs of Biohome Ultra ceramics and coarse/medium foam in the slide-in tray.

I perform bi-weekly 20% water changes and manually add calcium, magnesium, and carbonate as needed based on weekly testing.

The secret to my algae-free success over the years is my consistent feeding regimen: one small feeding per day and target feeding my corals 1/4 tsp of reef roids once every two weeks.
